Dear Warrenton Hammond School District Community,
I am thrilled to announce a major milestone in our district’s growth! Back in November 2018, the communities of Warrenton and Hammond came together to support a visionary $38.5 million bond measure. Through additional grants, premiums, and interest, this investment blossomed into a total funding package of $45.5 million for facilities expansion and enhancement.
The heart of this endeavor was the creation of Warrenton Middle School, a state-of-the-art facility that opened its doors in August 2021. Throughout its initial development, the district had the foresight to consider expansion at WMS. Initially, this consisted of a plan for just two classrooms at a cost of $2 million. We opted to aim higher, choosing to wait for the right opportunity to do more with the funds entrusted to us by the community.
I am happy to inform you that in the spring, the WHSD Board of Directors approved a plan for expansion at Warrenton Middle School. This summer, we are breaking ground on a new building at the WMS campus. This facility will feature a versatile gymnasium, locker rooms, four additional classrooms, and a spacious upstairs storage area that can also be utilized for other purposes. The proposed building layout and the site plan are attached.
We anticipate completing construction in time for the 2025-2026 school year, enhancing our capacity to deliver a top-tier education to our student body and additional resources for our community.
Thank you for your support and dedication to our district's future. Together, we are building a brighter tomorrow for the students in our community.
Warm regards,
Tom Rogozinski, Superintendent
